Barnes & Noble Nook HD

Today, in this post, I’m going to review a tablet that is really awesome but most of the people haven’t heard about it. You may have heard the name of Barnes & Noble that is a popular bookseller company but you may not know that they have also created their own tablet as well. We all know that, people are losing interest in reading real books as they want to read news on their tablets and also their favorite books on the same tablets as well. Keeping that fact in mind, Barnes & Noble decided to come up with a tablet that could serve that purpose and they named it Nook HD. There is no doubt that Nook HD is a great tablet but it has not been able to earn as much fame as it deserved.

Hardware

If you will look at the hardware design of Barnes & Noble Nook HD tablet, you will realize that it is no different from any other tablet that is available out there in the market. This is what I liked about their design; they haven’t tried to change things a lot because people are interested in simple, elegant and clean designs these days. In my opinion, the display of Nook HD is better than any other 7” tablet that is available in the market. The screen resolution of this tablet is 1440×900 HD pixels and still, the design is very sleek as the thickness of the tablet is only 11mm. It weighs only 11 ounces too which is quite impressive. The screen is sharp and bright, it has true colors and the image looks very real in it. There is a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor used in the tablet, backed by 1 GB of RAM. There are two storage options available in the tablet 8GB and 16GB. There is also a microSD slot so you can extend the memory if you want.

Software

B&N has recently introduced a new line of Nook HD tablets and along with that; they have also introduced many near features in those tablets as well. At the moment, they are trying to compete with Nexus 7 and iPad mini but we all know that this is a far cry. B&N have got over 3 million books in their database, apps, magazines and much more. A new Nook video option has been added to watch movies. Since, tablet has got HD display, the movies look amazing. The tablet runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but it can support Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as well. However, you may start thinking that Android OS is not being used in this tablet because B&N have modified the UI completely to give it a custom look.

Wrap-Up

One thing that can be said with surety is that, B&N have invested a lot of money in the development of hardware and software of Nook HD tablets and it can be seen clearly. Overall, the tablet is great to use and if one is looking for a cheap tablet other than Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD then Nook HD is the best option.
